He, his nephew Axel, and their guide Hans descend into the Icelandic volcano encountering numerous perils including prehistoric animals before coming to the surface again in southern Italy.Jules Gabriel Verne was a French novelist, poet, and playwright best known for his adventure novels and his profound influence on the literary genre of science fiction.
