This proposed book looks at service delivery issues in mental health care for women. It uses a public health framework, starting with the epidemiology of mental disorders in girls, adult women, and elderly women, and going on to examine the unique service needs of specific populations, for example women in prison, and women with mental illness who have young children. The book also examines gender differences in the use of mental health services and treatment outcomes between men and women. In all, it addresses the issue of providing effective treatment to women, and draws conclusions on developing and improving mental health services. Less
