Akamai's globally distributed Intelligent Platform™ allows us togather massive amounts of data on many metrics including Internetconnection speeds, network connectivity/availability issues, andIPv6 adoption progress as well as traffic patterns across leadingweb properties and digital media providers. Each quarter, Akamaipublishes the State of the Internet Report based on this data.This quarter's report includes data gathered from across the AkamaiIntelligent Platform during the second quarter of 2016, coveringInternet connection speeds and broadband adoption metrics acrossboth fixed and mobile networks as well as trends seen in this dataover time. In addition, the report includes insight into the state ofIPv4 exhaustion and IPv6 adoption, Internet events and disruptionsthat occurred during the quarter, mobile browser usage trends, andobservations from Akamai partner Ericsson regarding data andvoice traffic growth on mobile networks.
