Eoin Colfer (born 14 May 1965) is an Irish author of children's books. He worked as a primary school teacher before he became a full-time writer.Artemis Fowl, his first book featuring the now world-famous young anti-hero, was an immediate international bestseller and won the WHSmith 'People's Choice' Children's Book of the Year and Children's Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. It was followed by five more hugely successful Artemis Fowl adventures, and well as the highly acclaimed The Supernaturalist, The Wish List, Half Moon Investigations and Airman. In October 2016, in a contract with Marvel Comics, he released Iron Man: The Gauntlet. He served as Laureate na nÓg (Ireland's Children's Laureate) between 2014 and 2016.
