Michael Walsh qualified as a British Merchant deck rating early in 1959. After signing the Articles he sailed on the last of the White Star Shipping Companyâs fleet, RMS Britannic. The author of over 60 books sailed under many shipping company flags. These include Blue Star, Coast Lines, and Canadian Pacific Railways (CPR) Empress boats. Ellerman and Papayanni Lines (MV Grecian) was so large it was said it could put a ship in any port in the world within 24-hours.Michael circled the world, Mediterranean, Middle East, Latin America and Africa for Shell Tankers, Ellerman, Palm Line, Elder Dempster (Durango), and Clan Lineâs King Arthur. He was a deckhand on the MV Roxburgh Castle, SS Pizarro, MV Chailey, MV Oatfield, ore carrying MS Trinculo.By his mid-twenties, the author had visited over 60 nations and hundreds of world ports.
