Hour of the Dragon was the only novel-length story. It may also be the very best of the series.The Hour of the Dragon, a.k.a. Conan the Barbarian, is a fantasy novel featuring Howard's sword and sorcery hero Conan the Cimmerian. The storyline is pretty much the same as Howard's earlier short story, The Scarlet Citadel: Conan loses his throne following a plot by a group of conspirators; Conan is captured and awaits execution but is freed by the sympathetic slave girl Zenobia; Conan seeks to retrieve the Heart of Ahriman in order to defeat the wizard and regain his throne; Conan vows to make Zenobia his queen if he succeeds.
