Dr. Dipak Sarkar presently Director; National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), Amravati Road, Nagpur obtained B.Sc.Ag.(Hons) from Kalyani University presently known as Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal and M.Sc. & Ph.D from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry. He has significantly contributed in the field of Agricultural Sciences for more than 34 years. He has worked in the areas of Natural Resources Appraisal, Monitoring and Management, Application of Geoinformatics for Soil Resource Mapping, Land Evaluation and Land Use Planning at regional, district and watershed level, Soil Based Data Management System etc. He did research on several aspects of pedology and soil chemistry with in depth studies on Status, Causes and Impact of Arsenic Contamination in Ground Water in parts of West Bengal vis-à-vis Management of Agricultural Systems. He has published more than 128 Research Articles in reputed International and National Journals, 5 Books and 16 Book chapters. Dr. Sarkar was awarded Fellow of Indian Society of Soil Science, New Delhi (2003), Foundation Fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science & Technology, Kolkata (2000) and Fellow of Institute of Chemist, India (1991). Fellow of Indian Society of Coastal Agricultural Research (2007) and Fellow of National Environmental Science Academy, New Delhi (2003). He has also been honoured with special award for outstanding leadership on Soils and Agricultural Sciences towards Land Resources Research, Mapping and Planning at National level by Soil Conservation Society of India (SCSI), New Delhi in the year 2009. He hold prestigious portfolios in several Scientific Committees and Societies. To cite a few, he is President, Indian Society of Soil Science, Nagpur Chapter (since 2009); Council Member of Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata (2004-2005); President, Indian Society of Soil Survey and land Use Planning (ISSLUP), Nagpur (since 2009); President, Clay Mineral Society of India (CMSI), New Delhi (since 2009); Member Editorial Board, Indian Society of Soil Science, New Delhi (2003-2004); Member, Council of the Institute of Chemists, India (since 1998) etc. He has handled several Research Projects funded by ICAR, DST, World Bank and several State Governments. He has successfully guided 4 Research Students for Ph.D. Degree.
Dr. Abhijit Haldar presentlyserving the National Bureau of Soil Surveyand Land Use Planning (Indian Council ofAgricultural Research) obtained B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Sc. from University of Calcutta in Chemistry and Agricultural Chemistry & Soil Science respectively followed by Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry. He has got over 15 years research experience in soil analytical laboratory and several research publications in National journal of repute. He has co-authored 1 Book and 1 Book chapter and has significant contributions in various scientific reports, bulletins etc.
