Originally published in 1891. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork. This collection of poems is the conclusion of the writers preceding clusters. The writer in his old age and forced to confinement due to illness and paralysis feels he may as well put them in fair type. For the glum subject he is not sorry, for the fact it is in the past- visiting and waiting on wounded and sick army volunteers, from campaigns or contests, or in hospitals or fields, the wounded, suffering, dying- the sweating summers, marches, battles and carnage... Theses poems are reminiscent and memorial of those times.
