Cedric Westwood, son of Adam Westwood was a hardworking and successful bachelor, engaged to Loren Hill, the daughter of their housekeeper. They had been engaged for almost two years when they decided to tie the knot.
Mr. Westwood, though very proud and snobbish had accepted the union in respect of his son’s feelings.
Although not of their class, Loren was a lady who knew how to conduct herself well. She had never slept with a man up until the night of their honeymoon when Cedric was about to get his wish.
Cedric was so disappointed to discover that Loren had been sleeping with his father so that he would allow her marry his son.
The result of that confession was a total disaster, one that Cedric could not contain. As such, he drove himself into near insanity.
