he was born June 8, 1927, in Denver, daughter of Fredrich and Ida Nolting. She was married to Charles L. Cooley on July 11, 1947, in Waterloo, by the Rev. H. H. Diers.
She graduated from East High School in Waterloo, graduated with a teaching degree from Wartburg College in 1947, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She retired from teaching in 1989.
Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Cooley of Hiawatha; four sons, David of Grand Canyon, Ariz., Richard of La Monte, Mo., Dennis of Waterloo and Douglas of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Fred Nolting of Denton, Texas, Wendell Nolting of Cedar Falls and Eldon Nolting of Gilbert, Minn., and a sister, Eunice Lee of Hiawatha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Warren Nolting; a sister, Elaine Powers; and a granddaughter, Jolene Richardson.
