Years after the Pox destroyed most of humanity, Alice, a survivor of the plague that killed off everyone she ever knew, stumbles across a group in the woods. And when the men tell her they are taking her to town, she doesn't know what to do. Groups mean the Pox. And the Pox means death. Towns are a thing of the past.
But Alice soon learns that the town has a secret. They have a way to fight the Pox, but they need her to help make the cure. She'll need to become one of the town's growing number of human cows. The town needs her breast milk, and they'll stop at nothing to get it. And once her sweet, sweet milk starts flowing, poor Alice can't resist becoming what the town wants her to be.
Now her only hope lies in one of the men who brought her in. A trapper named Johnny might have a way to help her out, but in a world gone crazy, nothing is certain anymore. Not even love.
