Anna Marie Quindlen (born July 8, 1953) is an American author, journalist, and opinion columnist. Her New York Times column, Public and Private, won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1992. Quindlen is the author of : Object Lessons, One True Thing, Black and Blue), and four nonfiction books (A Short Guide to a Happy Life, Living Out Loud, Thinking Out Loud, How Reading Changed My Life. She has also written two children’s books (The Tree That Came to Stay, Happily Ever After). She began her journalism career in 1974 as a reporter for the New York Post. Her semi-autobiographical novel One True Thing (1994) served as the basis for the 1998 film starring Meryl Streep and Renée Zellweger.
