It is 45 percent in newborns, 45-65 percent in healthy infants, 30-45 percent in healthy adults, 50-65 percent in denture wearers, 65-88 percent in patients living in acute or long-term hospitals, such as nursing or residential homes, and 95 percent and 90 percent respectively in people with compromised immune systems, such as those with HIV and/or undergoing chemotherapy for acute leukaemia.
