This book, entitled Piano, from the Ready for Excellence Series uses a visual and play-by-number method to introduce young children to playing songs on the piano. The book includes 13 familiar songs in the public domain like Mary Had a Little Lamb and Old MacDonald Had a Farm. The idea of achieving a song-making experience that is very easy for children is rooted in the hope that when children hear themselves creating the sounds of popular songs, they will gain confidence and foster a love for music-making that can spur them on to playing music successfully and achieving in other areas later on in life.
