This book is a poetic telling of a love that didn't die with death and that living couldn't extinguish until time brought it full circle. As the author puts it, This book is kinda, sorta my life story. Commencing just moments after his birth, he takes you on an imaginary journey through his childhood, his subsequent 20 year marriage to Christine, her death, then through his struggles to overcome despair and finally to the pinnacle of new love. You are there from the very beginning, where he states: After nine months of darkness in a tiny 98 degree room, suddenly it's 68 and very bright, as I come out of the womb. I've nothing but the air I breathe and not a stitch of clothing. They spank me on the butt and that really starts me loathing.
