Being a Story of the Entry of the Allied Forces into Alsace and Lorraine, and Their March upon Paris after the Battle of Leipzig, Called the Battle of the Kings and Nations. Erckmann-Chatrian was the name used by French authors Emile Erckmann (1822-99) and Alexandre Chatrian (1826-90), nearly all of whose works were jointly written.They were both born in the Lorraine region in the extreme north-east of France and specialised in military and historical fiction and rustic ghost stories.
