These topics include but are not limited to feminist therapy, trauma recovery in the lives of women, mental health needs and services for diverse women, reproductive rights and violations and industrial /organizational psychology and women's career development. The Feminist Psychology Institute provides a premiere online resource for mental health professionals who would like to earn quality, affordable continuing education credits on feminist psychology. The institute's continuing education site now is available. Proceeds will support the work of the Society for the Psychology of Women. Feminist theory has explored the social construction of masculinity and its implications for the goal of gender equality. Masculinity is seen as a problematic gender role that associates males with aggression and competition, and which reinforces patriarchy and unequal gender relations. The concept of masculinity is also seen as harmful to men by narrowing their life choices, limiting their sexuality, and blocking full emotional connections with women and other men. Some feminists are engaged with men's issues activism, such as correcting legal and social imbalances in regard to father's rights, bringing attention to male rape and spousal battery, and addressing negative social expectations for men. This book offers a sampling of the many ways that gender affects experience. Whether the context is domestic or international, courtroom or a business or a clinic, gender matters. It influences ideas and expectations, and they shape behavior and laws.
