Differentiated book• It has a historical context with research of the time-The Mask of the Red Death (The Masque of the Red Death) is a horror account of the American writer Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), published in May 1842 in the Graham's Magazine. It is an essentially gothic story about the inevitable death. The story takes place in an unknown kingdom, whose inhabitants die one after another because of a terrible epidemic, which they call Red Death. This name is explained by the large amount of blood that patients lose, which has led many to consider that The Mask of Red Death is, in fact, a vampire story, although at no time talk about them. This name is explained by the large amount of blood that patients lose, which has led many to consider The Mask of Red Death as a vampire story, although at no time talk about them.Amidst the chaos appears the figure of Prince Prospero, who decides to quarantine the most notable people in the kingdom to isolate them from the terrible scourge that ravages the population. In that refuge, a kind of underground palace that recalls the catacombs of an old abbey, thunderous celebrations are organized that silence the howls of pain that come from the village. One day, Prince Prospero resolves to give a mask dance. The party is divided into different sections or bedrooms; each of them with a particular color. At the end of a long corridor is the black hall, which nobody dares to enter.Prospero discovers then that one of the guests wears the mask of a skull, as if he wanted to represent the Red Death. Indignant, he pursues him through the halls, until he reaches the mysterious black hall where the true identity of the man in the mask will be revealed. Less
