Addresses the modern problem of "conversion" via a careful, sociologically informed examination of conversion in the Gospels. Conversion is a process that needs to be flexible enought for a variety of persons. Major options in the church today include sociological, liturgization, and personal decision. Since each claims biblical support, I study the Gospels in light of the sociological theory of conversion. I conclude that the 3 orientations are too monodromatic and that churches need to provide structures for a variety of conversion experiences. Less
