JÚLIO DINIS, pseudonym of Joaquim Guilherme Gomes Coelho, was born in Porto on November 14, 1839. He took the medical course at the Medical School of Porto, combining the profession of doctor and writer. His first texts were published in A Grinalda and O Jornal do Comércio. His main works, all signed as Júlio Dinis, are: Pupils of the Lord Rector (1867), The Morgadinha dos Canaviais (1868), An English Family (1868), Serões da Província (1870), The Noblemen of the Moorish House 1871), Poesias (1873), Unpublished and Esparsos (1910), Unpublished Theater (1946-47).
