The purpose of Words at First Sight is to allow first through fifth grade students and children to become efficient and confident readers and their attention to center on decoding words that carry meaning to the text. This will allow first through fifth grade students and children to focus their efforts on learning how to read and spell As a result of doing so, the first through fifth grade students and children ability to verbally recall and organize information from text will improve. They will not only begin to develop reading comprehension skills, but also become more accurate, detailed and organized when verbally recalling the information. Words at First Sight will improve the first through fifth grade students and children reading fluency and automatically, allowing them to focus their efforts on the more demanding task of reading comprehension and spelling.
