William Wallace is a legendary figure in Scottish History. Along with Robert The Bruce, William Wallace stands as a true patriot and martyr for Scottish Independence and the fight against the English invaders under King Edward I. Wallace's major triumph over the English army came at Stirling Bridge in 1297. Wallace was betrayed, taken prisoner, tried and executed in London in 1305. After being paraded through the streets of London he was hung and beheaded. His head was placed on a spike on Tower Bridge and his body parts distributed throughout the country.
