It is Max's first day to rain, but he is afraid to make the jump. Embarrassed and seasick, he hides on the back side of the cloud.
Tony, a brave raindrop with thirty-seven jumps under his belt, lures Max out of hiding with a promise to jump together. After a morning of tumbling, jumping, sliding, splashing, and bouncing, even after finding himself alone and coming apart in the hot, midday sun, Max feels a seed of courage begin to take the place of fear.
Suddenly, booming thunder roars through the clouds. Lightning rockets across the sky And Max is afraid again. Will he overcome his fears? Will he survive when he ends up in a raging river? Will the seed of courage that started to grow be enough to carry him through the storm?
We all must do things at times that we are afraid to do. Max shows us that oftentimes, just grabbing hold of a friend's hand can be the beginning of courage.
