With tenderness, Galsworthy tells us the tale of a headstrong heir in the throes of an ungovernable passion. The tale is so delicately told that I believe its fine sentiments will always stay with me. The plot's twists and turns surprised and gratified this reader. I am also in awe of Mr. Galsworthy's ability to describe the thoughts of various animals that inhabit the fields surrounding the house.
