“Fighting King George” was originally published as a work of juvenile historic fiction. The book tells of the exploits of Tom Deering and his Negro slave Cole. Tom is a privileged member of the land holder class in South Carolina. The book follows Tom and Cole from the beginning to the end of the Revolutionary War. This book was written in a period of time when racism was much more common, and does contain racist language in places and talks about slavery.
