When Sylvia's father re-marries, Sylvia feels she can no longer endure life at home and so turns to her fiance of five years in South Africa. He sends her a message, "Come".  However, when she arrives, she is not met by Guy, her fiance, but his cousin Burke. It turns out that Guy sent her that message while drunk and is in no position to offer anyone shelter, let alone a wife. Sylvia discovers that Guy has not been the man she envisioned as a girl of eighteen but has been a failure in every sense of the word. Thus ensues the battle of good over evil.
