“Bunyip Land” is the story of Joseph Carstairs, son of an eminent botanist, who, in his search for new plants for the London nurserymen, ventures into the interior of New Guinea. Years pass away, and Professor Carstairs does not return; and though he is supposed to be dead, his young wife and son, who live at a station in Australia, refuse to believe this to be the case; and as soon as he is old enough, young Joe declares his intention of going in search of his father. To his surprise and delight, his mother is willing that he should go, and their friend the young doctor offers to be Joe’s companion.
