Janie seldom needed a reason to be mad at her husband, Sheriff Bert Mann. Their short marriage was filled with fire and ice.The reason this time turned out to be, the wives of Rocky Ledge wanted Sheriff Mann to do something about the hussy, Widow Jordansson. Too many of the town's husbands were seen leaving the young Widow's house. This included Sheriff Bert Mann and Janie Mann was angry. The trouble started the day Janie decided to do something about her philandering husband.
